Texting For Dates
The Wall Street Journal Online's Jessica Vascellaro detailed earlier this month how already "millions" of Americans have now met through texting services such as MeetMoi. The basic premise? Singles looking for someone to share time text their ZIP code to the service, and within minutes receive another text message describing another single nearby. If interested, users can communicate through the service anonymously through further text messages, chatting and setting up a date at their leisure.
I must admit I felt a bit behind the times after reading this; I have yet to use my cell phone to meet singles in the area, although I'm now eager to see if any such services are available here. The likelihood is high according to M:Metrics, a mobile research company who found an average of 3.6 million U.S. singles using their cell phones to access a dating site in March 2007.
