Fan Buys Date With Scarlett Johansson For Charity Fundraiser
After 170 bids on eBay, an unnamed fan won a twenty minute date with Scarlett Johansson. The date will take place at the premier of the movie version of He's Just Not That Into You (book review, movie). The $40,100 price tag not only bought the "meet and greet" with Johansson, but also two tickets to the premier, limousine service, and the hair and makeup services of Privé. The proceeds of the auction are going to Oxfam America.
I applaud Johansson for taking some time out for her fans and for a good cause. I urge other successful singles to put themselves up for auction at similar events. It's a great way to meet random people while being philanthropic, and it may just connect you with the person of your dreams. Sound farfetched? It may be, but I have two friends (one male, one female) who put themselves up for auction in similar fashions. The gent went for a couple hundred dollars at a local dinner and dance, while the gal went on a blind date with the top bidder on her blog. Both said they loved the experience and would do it again. Would you?

I would definitely do it again. But I would make it a double-date, because a one-on-one date with Scarlett Johansson would make me really nervous.

There was a scene in “Groundhog Day” that is similar to what you describe. I wonder…would women bid on this very old bod at my age (nearly 60)? It might be interesting to find out.
I am sure of one thing, however. It is highly unlikely that Scarlett Johansson would bid! And it is equally highly unlikely that I would pay US$40,100 for 20 minutes with her, whoever she is.
She’s a beautiful actress and well, just beautiful inside and out from watching some of her pictures and interviews…let’s just hope that guy had the spare money. That’s a lot of cash. Don’t get me wrong, I like her, but not everyone has that kind of money lying around, I don’t think.
