Are There Any Reliable Signs of Cheating?

Wednesday March 26, 2008

After the Elliot Sprizter debacle (see our Marriage Guides' profile of the Sprizters for details on the matter), I had a fair amount of dating advice questions asking me whether or not there are any sure-fire ways to know that your partner is cheating on you. The easy answer is to say no, there are no absolute signs to tell you whether or not your partner is cheating - unless of course you catch him or her in the act.

Yet there are a set of behaviors that can paint an interesting picture, and which may lead someone in a dating relationship to question whether or not some sort of cheating is taking place (see: The Signs of Cheating). Still, without concrete evidence or an honest partner, it may be challenging to prove. The best suggestion I can give to the readers who have asked me if their partners are cheating on them these past few weeks is this: listen to your gut. If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't, and should be discussed with your partner in an open, loving and honest chat.

What do you think?

There is no way people can really tell but be aware of changing patterns that’s a good way to tell if someone may be cheating
