Dating Blog Carnival #1

Thursday April 17, 2008

Welcome to the first edition of the Dating Blog Carnival, a weekly rundown of five interesting posts from around the blogosphere relevant to singles and dating couples.

Let's start the week off with Thomas Foley at AskMen, who discusses Maintaining Momentum in the Pursuit (of a woman). I found the post interesting in that Foley took sex out of the equation and suggested other ways to keep a new dating relationship burning brightly. Now this may seem common sense, but unfortunately it's not. For those who date men, think about this for a second: how many times have you gone out on a date with a guy and were unsure as to whether or not he was interested? Exactly. Foley's article attempts to ensure no man makes this mistake again.

Next we have Raymond at Money Blue Book, who offered up a deconstruction of the new reality TV show Millionaire Matchmaker, in an attempt at Understanding Traditional Love Stereotypes About Men and Women. I haven't watched the show, but after reading Raymond's long yet engaging blog post, I'll make a point of looking out for Millionaire Matchmaker to see if I agree with his assessments and observations. I have to admit I found myself surprised at many of the stereotypes presented including the observation that the millionaire men cast for the show are looking for a partner in a similar fashion to walking through a car lot.

On a more serious note, Linda W. from The Eclectic Female shares how to Recognize Verbal Abuse in Relationships. Although normally I'd prefer to use blog postings that are more personal in nature that merely a rundown of what verbal abuse is, Linda has done a good job of detailing different types and levels of verbal abuse for readers who may not realize they are victims.

Ok. That's it for this week's edition. For more information or to submit your blog article, read over the dating blog carnival page.

The biggest problem with dating today is that fact that traditional roles have crumbled and no one knows who to be anymore. Men have forgotten what it means to be men and women have forgotten what it means to be women. I think it’s great that people like you are bringing this topic to the public’s attention as awareness is the first step in change.
