Would you ever search to see if the person you're about to meet was a registered sex offender? It's not something that randomly crosses my mind, but with internet dating safety as a hot button of late, it may only be a matter of time (but I'd sure like to think I wouldn't have to).
Either way, a dating site that has been debated at length in this blog (see: New Website Plans To Tell Men 'Don't Date Her', and O'Reilly Factor Deems Don't Date Her Hate Website), Don't Date Him Girl has added new functionality to their site: namely, a search function that allows one to see whether or not the person they are dating is a registered sex offender in the United States.
The information is drawn from Predator Barrier, a free site that already provides this information quickly and easily to anyone willing to sign up at their website. Admittedly, the concept ties in nicely with the Don't Date Him Girl site, which allows slighted single women to post rants about their ex's so that other gals won't make the same mistakes dating the same guys. But if this information is already available for free on the web, won't it make the promises of sites like True.com (who offer free sex offender searches on each of their users before acceptance onto the site), obsolete?

Problem with that is that there are 20% of sex offenders that are not listed on the sex offender web site due to less severe charges. So you still won’t know if you are dating a misdemeanor sex offender.
