Reader Question: He Did Get Caught Cheating By My Friend?
A reader sent in a tricky dating question the other day that I've been asked many times before. In a nutshell, the gal wants to know if her boyfriend cheated on her, and then gives me a schwack of information that supposedly will denote his innocence or guilt. Usually the person asking realizes there are several signs of cheating, but then proceeds to give several reasons why this might not be the case.
I've quoted a part of the letter below, and have answered her full question with Did He Get Caught Cheating? My answer might frustrate the woman asking, and it might also upset some readers - I'm not sure, you tell me. Because I haven't actually answered the question (is he cheating?) but rather, have asked more questions of the lady, the status of her relationship, and what kind of interaction she wants to have. Because, in my world, the question isn't about whether or not her guy was unfaithful, but rather why she's being asked to prove how much - and who - she trusts, more.
Reader Question:I have been with my boyfriend for two years, we live together and have a normally great relationship. Saturday night, I hosted a party with a few of my girlfriends. Sunday morning, he comes to me and tells me there is a rumor going around that he slept with someone the night before. He "didn't do it, but my friends are going to tell me otherwise." I believe him because the woman he allegedly slept with started a rumor before he and I were together that they slept together, and since then he has always hated her.
