Free Dating Profile Help

By January 12, 2011

Follow me on:

It doesn't take a lot of creative thinking to understand why January is the best time of year for online dating sites. Not only have many people made New Years resolutions that focus on finding a date, getting a mate or bettering their relationship, but most of the sites offer some sort of incentive to join at this time of year to boot.

But what if you aren't getting a proportionally larger number of responses to your dating profile - or worse, none at all? Maybe its time to spruce things up a bit, give someone else a chance to review your profile to see what's working for you and what isn't.

This is why, after several requests from readers, I'm offering some free dating profile help. Soon I'll be posting your questions and my suggestions, in the hopes that those of us who want to use the 'net as a source of dating prospects, have the best possible foot facing forward.

Online dating is the new way to go. A good way to weed out people and allows you to be a little bit more upfront of what you want. =)

I totally agree. I have run one of the largest Canadian dating sites since 1998. I am celebrating my 10th year of business and the recession has made even more people join up to find love. One tip I would give to online daters is to stop putting down what you do not want, concentrate on the positive. Instead of saying no couch potatoes, say that you are looking for a person who loves to keep busy, travel, day trips etc. The worst thing you can put on your profile is “No players!” you are telling guys that you have attracted the wrong kind of guys and you are bitter. so stay positive and 2009 could be the year you find your perfect match. Happy New Year all of you singles and best of luck.

Another online dating tip is to add a photograph if you haven’t already, or change your photograph.

Profiles with photos receive up to 15 times more attention than profiles without photos.

Make sure it’s a recent one and that you’re not part of a group because it might be difficult to clearly see what you look like or which person is you!

When it comes to writing about yourself, instead of using cliches such as “I have a good sense of humour”, try to put things differently e.g. “I enjoy a laugh as well as a chewing over a discussion”

We’d like to add another bit of profile wisdom. A major cause of unsuccessful profile is making it too general. The profile feedback we’ve seen on our site clearly indicates that stating strong preferences leads to results.

Hope it helps!
