What Makes a Woman Sexy?

By , About.com Guide   June 29, 2011

Follow me on:

I read an article a few years back in Women's Health (Buy Direct) that talked about the male viewpoint of what makes a woman sexy. In a nutshell? It's all about the moments where women don't go out of their way to be sexy but rather when they just... are. Driving barefoot, doing yoga and accidentally showing some skin while leaning over were all mentioned.

Interestingly, the men that took part in the survey also said forcing sexiness was a turn off. Therefore high heels are beautiful and appreciated, but not if you're obviously uncomfortable wearing them. Too much makeup, jewelry or skin showing were also mentioned as being not so sexy.

But what about you? What do you think makes a woman sexy? Why?

There are the usual physical features that all guys go for, but for me, it’s all in eyes and the face. One thing that I ABSOLUTELY go nuts for is women with glasses…. can’t explain it.

Women who are -or seem to be- all all right with being a woman, natural womanhood so to speak.

Woman who are what they want to be. nothing more nothing less. Be what you are. no peer pressure, no media hypes, no fashion victims.

Some look/behave like what you think a woman (men do the same, really) should look or behave like. No need.

Life isn’t a stage, and we aren’t all actors. Life is an adventure, we are all here by mere accident, and therefore free to choose.

Nature, not nurture is sexy.

Spontaneity, humor, and confidence.

Women who aren’t trying to be sexy are much sexier than those who put effort into it.

As a woman I’ve been called sexy before at the most inopportune times; wearing jeans and a tank, cooking dinner, or trying to read something with my librarian glasses on. I think sexy is in the eye of the beholder. When people care, sexiness becomes more apparent and little things become amazingly sexy!

When men stop trying to appear politically correct about wanting “confidence” and “a woman who is herself” and just be honest and admit that you want stupid submissive Barbie dolls, the world will be a better, more honest place.

Maybe you’re going through something, so I won’t judge you. Goodness knows I’ve been going through something for the last 13 months.

I would say you’re right – partly. There are a lot of guys exactly like you describe. That’s not me though. And it isn’t all guys.

Wow! You really tell it like it is, Alex! But I have to agree with you. You have a point. Still, I can’t tell from your name whether you’re male or female. (Alex can go both ways.) Either way, what about a gal’s view of a guy? Does she secretly go for the Rambo-types, too, or what?

Alex (3) hit it with confidence. As well as a woman who knows the health aspects of a toned body, then eyes, face and great teeth. A woman who knows how to take care of themself and know what they want. I have one just like that. Without all the glitz and high maintenance.

I’ve been told it’s sexy when woman wear Red Sox, Celtics or Patriots jerseys, have a gym routine, work hard and wear their hair down.

i think its the way a woman carries herself, and is comfortable in her own skin. the too way out peroxide blondes with plastic bits, can be a turn off.

I think sexy radiates from the inside out. It’s when a woman can just shine through with her true authentic self.

The answer to the question; What makes a woman sexy is, it depends on who’s lookng. I will elaborae by saying that every man has his own preception of what’s sexy. Sometimes, hearing, you’re so sexy . can be annoying. I decided to d o my own survey by asking different guys the question, “why do you think I’m sexy? The answers were interesting and listed below.
1.Severeal men stated ,it’s the gap between your long legs.or its your curvy body or it’s the way you walk. I’m not impressed wth a man that’s hung up on the sex appeal What turns me on is a man that’s intelligent with great communication skills.

I like a healthy looking woman. Obviously I like a healthy woman. If she looks healthy, it’s more likely she will be healthy. Women are just as susceptible to advertizing as males and so you see them experimenting on their bodies with all kinds of crap. It can’t be good. It can’t be good to smear the same dark crap on your eyes for years. And then we’re having all these runs for cancer and what have you, never connecting the dots.

High heels look like crap to me, whether the foolish girls wearing them wobble or not. Lipstick never makes lips look better. Let me repeat that: NEVER! But, Buy the advertizing and you’ll buy the product, for which reason I expect the biz will continue to boom.

Don’t like tats or piercings. Ears are okay. Understated, as opposed to dramatic that forces you to notice, is appealing to me. It depends. If it’s dramatic because it’s revealing and sexy, that can be good. But it might not be.

That’s all.

Oh yes. Re perfume. I might like this or that frangrance, but I ‘never’ want to smell it. I’d rather breathe air. And that’s problematic these days.

Hair coloring? I can sympathize with the older girls who are catching the gray, but if you look good then the gray is not so bad. Still… What are you girls doing to your bodies with all those chemicals?

Generally, what I find sexy in a woman is what comes naturally. I am incredibally attracted to women with high strong cheekbones, strong defined jawlines, very bright blue/green eyes, red hair, and a nice healthy body type. I like women who care for their bodies, without going overboard and starving themselves, and what have you. I find overuse (or in some cases, any use) of makeup to be extreamly unnatractive. It can look very sexy when done right, however very few women can do professional level makeup application, and generally end up looking horrible. Like they’ve smeared a pie on their face. There’s nothing less attractive than that for me. Except for, perhaps, women trying to starve themselves to look ’sexy’. Looking like a stick is not sexy in the slightest. A healthy amount of fat is attractive, I think more women need to realise this.

Smart, funny, self-confident, unpretentious, a touch of zany; we walked past an art retailer that had a tall bronze woman on a pedestal. My girlfriend said “Wow, what big feet, they’re almost as big as mine.” I disagreed so she took of her shoes, climbed up on the base and measured feet with the statue.) Now that’s sexy!!

(18) Darr says:

I agree with max comment. He stated that the natural women is sexy. A women that is ok with being a women. But from my experience men want a pretty face and a big butt and big boobs. They want you to be like the porn star they like to watch and be 21yrs old for the rest of your life. Then when they are bore with you they leave you for the next barbie.

Okay, let’s face it. We’ve all peeked a little at some soft porn, haven’t we? (What? You haven’t? Then what are you doing at a site like this that talks about “Sex” and “Sexy”?)

Anyway, I find it not at all sexy that whenever a gal disrobes, she must necessarily and ALWAYS turn around to show the back door, south of the equator. What’s up with that?

I know elephants, horses, and cats have no choice but to mate in canine fashion, but, hey, human females aren’t any of such creatures.

What’s wrong with simply disrobing while staying in a front & center position, smiling and teasing if you will, without constantly turning your back? As long as you’re familiar with bikini wax, your front is just fine, thank you.

COUNT ME OUT, Darr! I’m a man’s man, totally male — but I NEVER went for big butts or oversized udders. Oh, sure, I’d glance at an attractive pair of wily jeans walking away, or a nicely fitting short skirt prancing down the sidewalk … but a simple “hand-full” at the top, along with an attractive pair of legs will ring my bell just fine, thank you. Big boobs, for me, are actually a total turn-off (and especially those filled with plastic or styrofoam, or whatever it is that’s been inserted in there.)

Hmmm, i suppose some traits that would make a woman sexy to me would include shyness, cuteness, personality, confident, boldness, humorous, hair (idk about you but i like it when the hair is down, to much anime ehehe), along with a sense of fashion.

(22) married40yr.old says:

My husband says its the little things I do that make me sexy. We are pretty open as far as talking about our sex life and what we like or don’t like so to say it like it is, he thinks its sexy when I can touch myself during sex. He thinks its sexy when I wear just a tank top (usually one of his) and just panties. I feel sexy when he takes them off of me. He thinks I’m sexy when I look at him a certain way. He thinks I’m sexy with makeup and without makeup. He thinks I’m sexy when I’ve just showered and taken the towel off my head and my hair is all wet and stringy……and funny but he thinks its “cute” when we are in a big store and I look lost looking for him and he’s standing right there!!!

Now don’t think I don’t have body issues because I do but the fact that he thinks I’m sexy just the way I am makes me feel good. I once was a stripper but now I am 40 and the gym days are long in the past. We are re-joining a gym though. I’d like to feel as good about myself as he makes me feel in his eyes.
