Finding a decent free dating site about a decade ago was an impossible task; they just didn't exist. Plenty of Fish changed that playing field forever, and now there are more free dating sites popping up every day that I can keep track of.
A lot of free dating sites got nominated in this category this year, but only five could make it to the finalists list. If you'd like to learn more about these companies and what they offer, take a peek at the Best Free Dating Site Finalists for 2012, or, vote below from February 22nd to March 21st for your favorite.

The best free online dating website I’ve come across is http://TruLuv.com. They have all the features you’d want like free email, live chat, advanced search, photo rating and missed connections personals, plus they are excellent at keeping scammers out.
I disagree. I checked out the TruLuv site you recommended. Although I automatically appreciate the fact that I could browser members without having to waste time signing up, an easy glance told me that there were only 10 people total on in my entire state. The site lacks numbers and any kind of popularity. I vote OkCupid, as it is completely free, has quality members, I never see ANY spam, has a wonderful layout, has a very high user population and many other features. They changed ownership recently, so who knows what direction the site may go and if the quality will hold, but as far as dating sites on the web, I not only rank it as the #1 free site, but the #1 dating site overall.
