The Bottom Line
How To Tell Your Boyfriend is the AntiChrist (and if he is, should you break up with him?) is a humorous look at dating for heterosexual women in need of a laugh about their not-so-funny-in-reality dating mishaps. Complete with equally funny artwork and references at the bottom of each boyfriend page to refer to other, related characteristics, this book would be a lighthearted gift for someone down in the dumps about relationships, or a recently broken up gal who needs a good laugh.
- Fun reading for those with a dark sense of humor.
- Obvious from the first page the book is meant to be a humorous take on dating and relationships.
- Every imaginable boyfriend drama is mentioned, so no one is left out of the laughs.
- Like most humor books, not everything is funny, and sometimes the jokes stretch a bit too far.

Guide Review - Book Review: How To Tell If Your Boyfriend is the AntiChrist, by Patricia Carlin
This tiny red book packs a wallop of a punch aimed directly at the love and relationship book genre. Its irreverent and silly characteristics are meant to be laughed at, and many women - who the book is obviously intended for - will.
Seventy-five different male characters are outlined in How To Tell If Your Boyfriend is the AntiChrist, like the Slacker, Hypochondriac, Narcissist, Trekkie, Robot, Polygamist and Renegade Cop. Each page-long description gives a bulleted-point list of four or five indicators, followed by the answer to the question, "Should you break up with him?" Those characteristics that are similar to others listed also have references at the bottom of the page, such as the poor soul Suffering from Multiple Personality Disorder, with page numbers for Actually Twins, Bipolar, and Possessed by Demons.
Some of the characters are spot-on, and few women will find themselves soured by these gents we've all met at some point in our dating careers. But yet others are odd, bordering on offensive, such as the Mama's Boy, whose characteristics include, "Asks you to wear a nursing bra."
How To Tell If Your Boyfriend is the AntiChrist is recommended for women who don't mind a quick read through a dark comedy about dating, and who understand that none of the relationship advice given in this book is meant to be used literally.
