Book of Matches is a low-tech site, in that it offers a lot of ads and not a ton of bells and whistles that paid dating sites usually offer. Having said that, there are a large number of users active on the site. I personally found the site focused almost primarily on casual encounters rather than dating or long term relationships, and the forums were a difficult place to spend any time, as the moderation seemed minimal at best when I visited. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend Book of Matches as anyone's main source of dating fodder, but it might compliment some of the paid dating sites or allow access to a larger number of users that might not be found elsewhere.
