You spot someone you fancy using the office photocopying machine. You go up and say "It's a pity I can't make a copy of you to take home with me."
—Guest Peter

This one killed me.

You walk up to your pick and compliment what they wearing, like "Nice dress/Jeans, can I talk you out of it/them"?

giggle

extremely cheesy!

i heard this from a 6th grader from when i was in 7th grade...."Hey Baby, i lost my number. Can i have yours?" it's very cheesy and not likely to work but i gave me a good laugh.

Here are some pick up lines for you:

* You look like my third wife! (How many have you had?) Two. * Do you work for UPS? I could have sworn I saw you checking out my package. * Did you fart? Because you blew me away... * Do you have any raisins? No? How about a date? * I hope there's a fireman around, cause you're smokin'! * Are you smoking? (No!) Oh, yes you are! * Hey I just realized this, but you look a lot like my next girlfriend. * I'm invisible. (Really?) Can you see me? (Yes) How about tomorrow night?
—Guest Dave

this one has never failed

simply approach your prey, and tell them you and your friends were discussing effective pickup lines, and you wanted to know which pickup line would have the best chance of working on that person. Whatever they say, tell them that it's a very good one, and you'll have to try it out on the next gorgeous person you come across. Pause just for a moment, and repeat it back to them. If they don't respond right away, simply inform them that by saying no they would be making themselves a liar.

CHEESY & CRINGE but funny:

go up to them and say hi are you tired? they may look a lil confused then go 'cos you've been running through my mind all day. Definatly laugh about it later.

Polar Bear

A good one for a laugh... Only works with smarter girls and in quieter places usually... Walk up and say "How much does a polar bear weigh?". She will look confused for a second and say something along the lines of "I don't know..." Whereas you reply "Obviously enough to break the ice. Hi I'm Hugh." Great way to start a conversation. Slightly cheesy but also cute enough and quirky enough that with the right girl it can start quite a good conversation and set yourself apart from the others!

LIBARY

I was at a library when a guy came up to me and said, "Girl, if you were a book I would definitely check you out".
—Guest CHULA

those guys

Walk up to a random girl and say, "You see those guys over there? (point to group of guys) They want to know if you think I'm sexy."
—Guest som guy

Really cheesy..

I have heard a lot of really cheesy things and the one i love can be for girls or guys. Go up too the selected person and ask "Can you hold something for me?" and when they hold out their hand to recieve it, you put your hand in theirs, smile sweetly, and say "Thanks" You'll laugh about it later, and it could really start something(although i'm not saying it will)

pickup lines

Hey a great line i like to use is "hey you look totally adorable and i knew if i didn't come and say hi i would be kicking myself all evening. my name is rob" this is a good direct opener.
—Guest Rob

planes

when you travel solo its perfect to meet someone..like if the boarding is late (as it always is) just do the: "its always the same"...if he nods or says 'yes' you just go on with:"do you travel a lot?"...i've met my share of people that way...cause you always manage to understand if they're alone or not, and if the flight is half empty, you can always change seats..

#5 Works - Even If You Don't Want It To

I'm very happily married -- and wear a ring -- and also happen to be on the shorter side. I probably have to ask for help reaching things at the grocery store at least once or twice a month, and let me just say..I can't even count the number of times someone has thought I was trying to start a more-than-friendly conversation. My follow-up for #5: try the cereal isle. That seems to be the isle with the hardest-to-reach items and the most-likely-to-chat folks...

"I Love That..."

This tip is a variation of the suggestion tip, but it focuses on something that the other person has, like a purse, an article of clothing, great shoes, or jewelry. "Wow, that's a really nice watch, did you get it at a local store?" It combines the advantages of asking an opinion and giving a compliment.
—AbContests

Not necessarily great, but it worked...

I had a boyfriend of several months who picked me up by cornering me at a party, putting his arm up (to block my escape, I suppose) and asking "What's your name and where are you from?" My response was "What's YOUR name and where are YOU from?" We did end up dating for a while, though.
—Guest Jenn

"Pretend we're together."

Find a lone diner at a table and sit opposite her (or him). Glance nervously over your shoulder (a little melodrama is good here). Followup with: if we're going to pretend I should at least know your name, I'm...
