The fear in me

Sunday January 15, 2006
I have to admit that I’m feeling a little nervous about meeting the people on eharmony. I think it’s a surge of the jitters and excitement all in one. The other side to it is “wow” I could be meeting my guy sooner than I thought. It is very exciting. While I am not getting my hopes up because expectations only turn out bad, I need to keep my mind open. I was given this quote from a friend:
"Feel the fear and do it anyway".
Some strong words, I’ll apply that to my daily ritual.

I have been chatting with a new fellow named Mike whose livelihood is the arts. Very nice and down to earth man, he has already given me his number. I still just want to talk through eHarmony before I make up my mind to proceed with the “human” contact. I don’t want to add that quite yet. I did ask him to post his picture so I can see his eyes though. I have to make that soul connection and as we all know the eyes are the windows to the soul. He lives 3 hours away from me, but has already told me that he comes to the city quite often. He loves little towns but not so far away from civilization. Hmmm, so do I.

A friend of mine is a massage therapist and she has a client that is interested in dating and finding that right woman. He’s never been married, same age group as me, just never settled. He takes care of himself, well established in the real estate community and also believes in the higher power. She told me a few weeks back about him. Of course, immediately I thought no way on blind dates, that was my first reaction. Then I thought what the heck am I doing with eHarmony… She thinks he is perfect for me, a big teddy bear, gentle but strong. I called her and left a message to say o.k. let’s do it. I’ll let you know.

My brother is waiting in the wings for me. He said that the dates that I go on, just the 1st one, he will wait in the shadows for a few minutes to make sure I am ok. Is that the sweetest thing ever? I have been on 1 blind date in my whole life, so I’ll take the offer. My brother and I are very close. I guess you can say he’s me and my son’s guardian angel. We love him dearly. So I am going to face my fear and just do it. Wish me luck

Namaste

Elle,
Wow, what a journey! I ate up every word of your blogs. I am so incredibly happy for you that you are putting yourself out there. I also really admire that you have decided to let love come into your life however it decides to show up – eHarmony, local or long distance, parties, blind dates, etc. I am really glad you decided to take that big step and go out on a blind date. Whether it works out or not, you are really opening yourself up to let love come swooping in!
